Rose Mary Valencia is the Executive Director of the Visa and Immigration Services Administration Office for The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and the Office of International Affairs for The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She is responsible for assisting faculty, students, trainees, and staff from diverse cultures byperforming complex duties involving application for temporary and permanent visas. She is experienced in international higher educationwith a primary focus in academic medicine/healthcare. She served on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Department of State 'Secure Borders Open Doors' Advisory Committee from 2006–2008, is an active member of NAFSA, and previously held several NAFSA leadership roles, including Texas State Representative, Region III Chair, local arrangements chair for Region III, Chair of the Membership Committee, Vice President for Member Relations, Board Member at Large, Diversity Adviser, Dean of the H-1B CEP (Core Education Programming) Workshop; Trainer Corp Member; Co-Chair of Local Arrangements for NAFSA Conference in Houston, and Chair for the 2017 NAFSA Annual Conference in Los Angeles. Rose Mary presents at local, regional, and annual NAFSA conferences and has been an invited speaker for several professional associations.
