Presentation Description: One way to attract and retain top talent is to sponsor individuals for permanent residence. This session will address options available to organizations to sponsor individuals for permanent residence (green card) and ways for the individuals to sponsor themselves (self-petition). We will also discuss issues that organizations and individuals may be facing as they navigate the green card process, and possible solutions.

Understand the different ways that an employer can sponsor someone for permanent residence and when pursuing more than one option at the same time may be advantageous.
Understand the options available to individuals to sponsor themselves for permanent residence and how the university may be asked to assist with the permanent residence process.
Prepare for and address potential questions and issues, including setting expectations, recruitment, J-1 waiver, Visa Bulletin, and processing times.
