Document Fraud, Ethics, and the DSO Role

Presentation Description: DSOs reviewing financial documents for I20 issuance is just one step in the visa process.
However, with the increase in cost of tuition and number of students needing emergency financial assistance post arrival, 
it’s even more important to develop policies to mitigate financial document fraud while understanding the US Consular official role in vetting student financial viability.  A former Consular official, immigration attorney and DSOs from public and private institutions will review the ethical and regulatory obligations regarding fraudulent documents and the DSO role.

Learning Objectives:

  • interpret the DSO scope when reviewing and evaluating proof of financial resources versus the role of a consular officer.
  • formulate institutional response surrounding the ethical ramifications of fraudulent admission documents to ensure compliance.
  • identify best practices in data collection and analysis, when spotting fraudulent financial documents and develop related institutional policy.
