Meg Ramey, Ph.D., is the Founder and Executive Director of WorldKind* (www.worldkindlearning.com), a learning experience design firm that partners with higher education institutions to offer eLearning courses and instructional design services. WorldKind encourages ethical and sustainable travel through creative instructional design that utilizes animated videos, gamification, and scenario-based learning to create positive and lasting educational experiences for learners.
With over 20 years of experience in education, Dr. Ramey has taught over 10,000 learners while living across five continents. Her earlier roles include serving as the Director of Education Abroad for Tutku Educational Travel and as a tenured Associate Professor at Messiah University, where for eight years she led students on education abroad and service-learning programs across 16 countries. She has presented before at NAFSA, the Forum, and PACIE conferences, been a member of NAFSA's Trainer Corps, and was a part of the Forum's International Working Group. She has written academic articles, contributed to monographs, and even published her own book as well as working as the editor-in-chief for a project with Oxford University Press.
Last year, she led the launch of WorldKind Academy (worldkindacademy.com), a robust, cloud-based LMS platform that delivers global competency training solutions for higher education institutions. The platform’s signature product the “Traveler Trainer PROgram” (TTP) is a pre-departure Travel Health & Safety training (plus more) designed in partnership with universities across the country, such as Texas A&M and Case Western Reserve. The TTP’s gamified and scenario-based design engages Gen Z students to increase completion and information retention rates while reducing staff workloads and mitigating liability. The program, which launched last fall and is already being used to train 8000+ students before they go abroad, was a 2023 and 2024 finalist for GoAbroad’s “Innovative Technology” award and 2024 finalist for their “Innovation in Sustainability” award.
*WorldKind is headquartered in Harrisburg, PA, and recognized by the Commonwealth of PA as a “Public Benefit Company” because of WorldKind’s support of learning and development projects across the world that aim to create collaborative, inclusive, and kinder spaces that make learning more accessible for everyone.
